Located at Moziqiao, Chengdu, Chengdu No.7 Middle School was established in 1905. It is one of the first key middle schools designated by the Sichuan Government. It is also a pilot school named by the State Education Commission to carry out educational reforms in Sichuan, and an experimental school for training professional sports reserves.

The campus covers an area of 50,000 square meters, beautifully landscaped with trees, flowers and lawns. There are 32 senior and junior classes with over 1,800 students. The school faculty numbers 200 professionals, including 10 Superior Class Teachers, 10 Academic Leaders awarded by the Chengdu Government, and 60 Senior Teachers. Among the faculty members, 40 have been awarded titles such as Excellent Teacher and Model Worker conferred by the State, Sichuan Province, and Chengdu City.

Chengdu No.7 Middle school is well-known across the country for its good academic tradition, high-quality education, first-class faculty and excellent management. In the past 90 years it has educated some tens of thousands of students who have already made their contributions to the progress and prosperity of the country during different historical stages of modern Chinese revolution and social development. The noted personages, Sun Zhen and Tian Jiaying, once studied at the school. The academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering, Chen Jiayong, Li Yinyuan, Pu Fuke, Tang Mingshu, and Ye Shangfu, all graduated from the school.

Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee, the school leadership and faculty members have made concerted efforts and persisted in the educational reforms. With past experiences and continuous efforts, the school has paved a road of development and reform with its own characteristics. The goal of the school is to foster highly-educated personnel with a solid foundation. The school has formed an educational approach which stresses on all-around development based on fostering useful skills and giving full play to the students' role. It lives up to the principle of educating all students morally, intellectually, and physically. A teaching system, combining required curriculum with optional curriculum and classroom teaching with extracurricular activities, has been established in the school. The school offers over 20 optional courses in different subjects. Great success has been achieved in various extracurricular activities.

The achievement of students in the National College Entrance Examinations and Middle School Entrance Examinations have been the first place in Chengdu and Sichuan for many years. The college admission rate of the school's senior class has remained at around 99%. About 80% of the graduates enroll in key universities in the nation for higher education. The number of students who have won prizes in various contests held by the State, Sichuan Province, and Chengdu City remains high at around 400 each year. In the past five years, 32 students have participated in the finals of National Contests in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computing. Seven students have joined the national Olympic training teams in different disciplines. Among them, Zhang Yin and Wang Xiaochuan have won the gold medals in the 37th International Math and the 8th International Information Science Olympic Contests, respectively. Yang Jun won the championship of the American National Math Contest in 1992. The men's volleyball team has won the championships in the provincial and municipal Three-Merit Cup for years, and in 1995, on behalf of China, it took part in the qualification trials for Youth World Volleyball Championship in the Asian Region.

The Youth Air Force School established by the school has been awarded the title of National Advanced Youth Military School. The Young Pioneers have been elected a Red-Flag Team by the State. The Youth League has been appraised as a National Advanced Collective in social practice activities. The school also has been honored with the National May-First Labor Medal and the titles of National Advanced Unit for its extracurricular activities in science and technology, National Advanced Unit in computer science education, Civilization Unit of Sichuan Province, Advanced Unit of Chengdu in Learning From Lei Feng, and Garden-Style Unit of Chengdu for its beautifully landscaped campus.

More than 30 faculty members have been abroad to visit foreign schools, exchange views with their teachers, and attend international seminars. The school has established friendly relationships with many middle schools in USA, Japan, Canada, and UK. It frequently receives visits from foreign delegations and holds exchange activities in various fields.

Chengdu No.7 Middle School has already entered a new period of educational modernization of middle schools. It is expanding every effort to realize the modernization of its educational ideology, systems, methods, facilities, and management, in order to meet the future requirements for professionals and emerging standards of international education. It will hold on to the policy of "inheriting the traditions, stepping up the reforms, and looking ahead at the future". It will strive to integrate the modern civilization with traditional culture, and become a modern school with both national and international reputation for its first-class education.
