In February 2000 I finished my PhD in the Computer Science department. I was a member of the Database Group and worked on query processing for semistructured data (part of the Lore project).

After graduating I worked at There for five years. In 2004 I started working at Amazon. The first project that I worked on was the design of Amazon Prime. A small core group designed, built, and launched Amazon Prime in 6 weeks. I spent two years working on Prime after the launch with a small moonlighting stint helping out with the orginal Kindle. I spent the next 4 years working on S3 before transitioning to work in the digital organizationon on the next generation Kindle devices. After 8.5 super fun years I left Amazon.

In February 2013 I joined Facebook and am now happily spending the vast majority of my day writing code again!
