Information Management In Large Scale, Widely Distributed, and Collaborative Environments

Pamela Drew

Abstract

Aircraft design and production in a distributed computing environment, rapid globalization of supplier and customer groups, and new business opportunities, such as satellite-based information services to aircraft, are but a few of the challenging application areas in which advanced database and middleware technologies are needed. In this presentation, I will discuss some of the technical requirements and highlight potential solutions being explored in areas such as distributed transaction processing, data integration architectures, information dissemination, and broadcast managment.
