The multidimensional data model
The multidimensional model represents data by means of a multidimensional N-grid Q which is a Cartesian product of certain discrete sets Di called dimensions:
The elements of a dimension are called members. The set of dimensions and members forms metadata. So unlike the relational case, metadata itself has the Cartesian product structure.
