Hierarchies, continued
Hierarchies are graphs whose vertices correspond to members of a dimension or to sets of cells in a cube.
Dimension hierarchies are most commonly used. They serve multiple purposes:
- provide a set of predefined member selections for dimensional restrictions;
- serve as means of navigation through various subsets of the grid;
- help provide zooming capabilities for the data observer;
- help establish functional dependencies within the cube.
