ABSTRACT

The digital property rights language (DPRL) has been proposed by Xerox as a potentially universal way of expressing terms and conditions for published digital works. One of the most interesting aspects of this work have been the interactions it exposes between the introduction of technology and laws governing copyright, social practices for fair use and privacy, and the formation of the digital publishing market. This talk will explore some of the issues and dynamics.
