Bio:

Dean Jacobs received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University in 1985. He has served on the faculty of the Computer Science Department at the University of Southern California (USC) and engaged in research at the Information Sciences Institute (ISI). He has been instrumental in the development of several commercially-available distributed systems, including MediaNet, a real-time network file system for editing digital audio and video, and WebLogic, a Java-based web application server. Currently, Dr Jacobs is an Architect at BEA Systems, where he is responsible for the design and implementation of WebLogic Clusters.
