Alin Deutsch is an assistant professor of Computer Science and engineering at UC San Diego. He joined UCSD in 2002 upon completing his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Diploma of Electrical Engineer from the Polytechnic University Bucharest (Romania) and an M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany). Alin received an NSF CAREER award in 2004, a Sloan fellowship in 2006, and a SIGMOD Best Paper Award Honorable Mention in 2006. Alin is interested in developing technologies for large-scale data publishing and integration on the Web. His research ranges from design and optimization of XML query languages to building analysis and assisted-design tools to help data owners grasp the ramifications of publishing their data on the Web.
