Images are generated in many departments of a hospital with radiology being the most well-known source. These images may be digital at the source or may be recorded on film. Future medical information systems and databases will need to manage the movement of these image collections around the hospital and between clinics and the hospital.
We will present an overview of the hospital as an image generating system, and will review the many types of images that are necessary for medical care.
