The Virage Video Cataloger System

The Virage Video Cataloger "watches, reads, and listens" to an incoming video stream in real time, and selects key frames that are tagged with descriptors derived from close captioning or audio. In addition, a face recognizer tags certain frames with the names of the participants. A "plug-in" architecture is used which enables components (such as face recognizers or speech understanding modules) developed by third parties to be readily incorporated.

The system, in use by CNN 24 hours a day, seven days a week will be demonstrated.
