Minutes from the meeting of 4/130/97 Attending: Roy,Vasilis,Jason,Yue, Michael,Janet,Matt Topic: Yue's report about her work on materialized OEM views with Hector Major points: 1. The OEM model used is slightly different from the one used in this group. They have objects as records with OIDs, and labels are within objects. However, this difference is not fundamental. 2. They assign a virtual database object for each database. This database object has type set and has the set of OIDs of all objects in the database as its value. Furthermore, a query result is also a set object. 3. A view is defined to be the result of a view definition query, which is an object (which is also a database). Edges are preserved implicitly. 4. There are a list of database (view) operations, like union, difference, etc. 5. Maintenance is simple. 6. They can not explictly manipulate edges.
