DATE:: March 1970 PAGES:: 37 ABSTRACT:: In this paper, we derive and generalize the methods of Buneman for solving elliptic partial difference equations in a rectangular region. We show why the Buneman methods lead to numerically accurate solutions whereas the CORF algorithm may be numerically unstable. Several numerical examples are given and discussed.
