Anish Das Sarma is a Research Scientist at Yahoo, since August 2009. Prior to joining Yahoo research, Anish did his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University, advised by Prof. Jennifer Widom. Anish received a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in 2004, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2006. Anish has interned at Google in Mountain View & Bangalore, Microsoft Research in Redmond, Yahoo! in Bangalore, and IBM Research Bangalore.

Anish's current research interests in data and information management span database systems, information extraction, data integration, and the World-Wide Web. He is particularly interested in the design and analysis of algorithmic solutions to practical data management problems and real-world systems. During his Ph.D., Anish's work was largely been in the context of: (1) the Trio system for managing data, uncertainty, and lineage; and (2) UDI, a system for incorporating probabilistic techniques into data integration.

Anish is a recipient of the Microsoft Graduate Fellowship, a Stanford University School of Engineering fellowship, and the IIT-Bombay Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal. Anish co-taught a senior-level database class at Stanford in 2008.
