Synopsis

"Never give up, never surrender!"

For four years, the crew of the NSEA Protector donned their uniforms and set off on thrilling and often dangerous missions in space--then their series was canceled. Twenty years later, the five stars of the classic '70s TV series Galaxy Quest are still in costume, making appearances at science fiction conventions for their legions of die-hard fans. But some of those fans are a little more far out than the actors could ever have imagined.

A group of aliens who have mistaken intercepted television transmissions for "historical documents" arrive at a convention and whisk "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" (Tim Allen) and his crew into space to help them in their all-too-real war against a deadly adversary. With no script, no director, and no clue about real interstellar travel, the make-believe crew of the Protector has to turn in the performances of their lives to become the heroes the aliens believe them to be.

See movie reviews below.

About the DVD: A nice presentation in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, with deleted scenes, a featurette, production notes, cast and crew bios, the theatrical trailer and three soundtracks: English in Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0, and a "Thermian 2.0" track. The "Thermian" audio track features the entire film dubbed in the aliens' howling, hooting language -- a cute idea that quickly wears thin.

Cast: Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, James Marshall Wolchok, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell, Enrico Colantoni, Robin Sachs, Patrick Breen, Missi Pyle, Jed Rees, Justin Long, Jeremy Howard, Kaitlin Cullum, Jonathan Feyer

This comedy spoof follows a team of far-from-super heroes as they try to overcome their shortcomings and earn respect. Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller), the Shoveler (William H. Macy), the Blue Raja (Hank Azaria) and the Bowler (Janeane Garofalo) get a shot at the big time, but if they screw up, Champion City will be doomed! Mystery Men makes barbed mockery of cinematic superheroics.

Lame producer Bobby Bowfinger (Steve Martin) has a script that's brimming with possibilities. The catch? To get seed money to produce the film, it must feature Hollywood's leading box-office star, Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy). Aided and abetted by a cast and crew of misfits, Martin makes one last stab at overnight success. Hilarity is the result.

Great satires such as Blazing Saddles, Airplane and Young Frankenstein affectionately mock film genres that have withstood the test of time and the fickleness of fashion. Those movies fire scathing gibes at the universal -- and instantly recognizable -- trademarks that define Westerns, disaster ...

This movie is hysterical. Unlike much of the so called family fare the studios shove down our throats this actually is a movie for the whole family. Esp. if the family is full of sci-fi fans. I'm hard core trek/B5 fan and even I loved it. This movie spoofs the trek phenom, as well as TV's ... Complete Review

Galaxy Quest is one of the funniest movies ever! Tim Allen is at his best as the heroic captain. This movie is part Sci-Fi and part comedy. The parodies to some of the most famous Sci-Fi movies (and TV shows) will leave you in stitches. You don't even have to be a Sci-Fi fan to enjoy this ... Complete Review

As a recovering Trekaholic, I found this parody-within-a-spoof just delightful. The mostly clueless actors finding their way to defending their True-est Fans (the Thermians), the Questies who need to get real lives but whose fantastical absorbtion save the day, the technologically advanced -but ... The old Star Trek gang must be laughing it up or doing some serious self reflection about now. This has got to be the funniest, most entertaining new-twist movie to come out in years. Excellent dialog for the subject matter and great casting. The special effects are used just right so as to not ... Complete Review

This is an intelligent spoof on everything Star Trek. From transporter disasters to alien love. A good cast does a great job -- and I can't believe I'm saying that about Tim Allen. Up there with Blazing Saddles and Monty Python on my list of comedies.

Sigourney Weaver has NEVER looked so good. Tim Allen as always is his funny self. Alan Rickman reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield, no respect.... Great Movie. Wish it would happen to me :)
