Braveheart
(1995)
Synopsis
Based on historical events, this epic tells the story of legendary Scotsman William Wallace, a courageous and noble young man who fights for his country's freedom in the midst of 13th century British oppression.
Newly wedded to the village beauty, all Wallace wants is peace in his homeland. Like others in his country, he is weary of the British ravaging villages and abducting wives. After one particularly devastating pillage, Wallace rallies his countrymen and starts the battle cry for freedom. Knowing full well what they're up against, Wallace leads his people in one of history's most gut-wrenching quests for liberation. Full of ripe detail, this adventurous saga will linger in your memory.

Many dismissed it as no more worthy of that honor than forgotten victors such as Ordinary People. Its recent release on DVD is a chance to see the film with the ... Complete Review

This is the second time I have seen this movie and I was not disappointed. Braveheart is a canvas for Gibson and what a picture he paints. The photograhy and direction were very well done. This movie proves that Gibson has talent behind the camera. The horror of war was captured as was the ... Complete Review

Around 1300 AD in Scotland, William Wallace (Mel Gibson) became the country's loved hero. Indeed, he was a freedom fighter. But when the dispictable English take away that which he cherishes most, he becomes the most unstoppable foe! Yes, this flick is both violent and bloody. But let's face ... Complete Review

OK, I get the message. Mel hates the English. Fine - they've done/are doing some pretty bad things, but why change what actually happened - doesn't he think what they did was bad enough?
Maybe it's my bad memory, but I don't recall a single sympathetic English character in the film. We're ... Complete Review

The character (braveheart) always stayed true to his principles. A little gory but consistent with the movie.
