Synopsis

East meets West in a battle for honor, royalty, and a fortune in gold. The classic Western gets a kick in the pants courtesy of Jackie Chan.

When the lovely Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu) is kidnapped from China, the Emperor dispatches three of his most fierce and noble Imperial Guards to deliver the ransom in gold to her kidnappers in America's Wild West. Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) isn't among the chosen. However, he manages to tag along anyway by offering to carry the luggage for his uncle, the Interpreter.

About the DVD: Wilson, Chan and Dey provide commentary for the feature and for deleted scenes. There's an Uncle Kraker music video and a wagonload of featurettes, but they're dull. "Shanghai Surprise" is a collection of interactive games you can play with a DVD remote. Shanghai Noon's sound, which includes English and French tracks in Dolby Digital 5.1, is superlative; Spanish subtitles are optional. The film is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen.

Cast: Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson, Rafael Baez, Lucy Liu, Curtis Armstrong, Jason Connery

   James Rocchi
Shanghai Noon repeats the winning formula of Jackie Chan's last stateside hit, Rush Hour, by pairing the tight-lipped action star with his opposite number: the loquacious Owen Wilson. Cobbled together from the spare parts of a clutch of great Westerns, Shanghai Noon borrows from just about ...

Fans of Rushmore and Bottle rocket will apreciate Owen Wilson's influence in this action comedy. Jackie Chan looks great, and the fight coreogrphy is innovative and entertaining. As far as Hollywood fluff goes, this is the kind of fluff I enjoy!

Typical Jackie Chan, lots of action scenes. So so plot, didn't really make total sense until after watching the bonus material. The director says that this was intentional. I am not sure though.

Don't expect some sort of life altering meaning or message out of this film, but it was amusing. Jackie Chan is in his classic formula role as village idiot / screw up who goes abroad and becomes a legend. This time its set in the old west. Honestly my favorite part of this movie is the acting ... Complete Review

This is a wonderful movie that is appropriate for all ages 8 and up. Has humour that adults will apreciate and humour for the kids as well. Both heroes play there parts very well. A fun action movie, with good fight scenes and plenty of tongue in cheek humour.
