Synopsis

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon tells the story of two women, both capable fighters, whose fates intertwine during the Ching Dynasty. One of them tries passionately to break free from the constraint society has placed upon her, even if it means giving up her aristocratic privileges for a life of crime and passion. The other, in her lifelong pursuit of justice and honor, only too late discovers the consequences of unfulfilled love. Their two destinies will lead them to a violent and astonishing showdown, in which each will make a surprising, climactic choice.

Mention the phrase "martial arts film" to most moviegoers, and visions of badly dubbed actors and hyperkinetic chop-socky moves dance through their heads. Even after the late-1980s heyday of Hong Kong cinema resurrected kung fu flicks as historical Chinese epics and added a layer of athleticism ...

I was privileged to see this film at the London Film Festival on 6th November and was awestruck at the artistry and grace Ang Lee brings to the Hong Kong action flick genre. He and James Shamus were there to ride the wave of audience appreciation and it was fabulous. The film focuses on women, ... Complete Review

I can’t remember the last time I went to a subtitled movie in a crowded theater, but the hype around Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon must be working. People are going to see a film in Cantonese, but not all of them can handle it. I heard a lady complaining that she couldn’t keep up with the ... Complete Review

I'm a big fan of KongFu movies. This movie has by far the most fascinating fighting scenes I have ever seen. It has a wonderful mixture of realistic moves and imaginative ones that are only possible in books. Being an avid reader of KongFu fantasy books, movements such as gliding over water, ... I found it hard to follow because of the subtitles. If you are not on top of the movie at all times, you would miss what is being said. I would rather watch a movie that I can listen to, not have to read every word that is being said.

I didn't like this movie at all. I had absolutely no idea what it was about. I watched it twice to see if I had missed something, but it was the same both times.

Ok, so maybe i am just not a sophisticated moviegoer. That being said. I did't appreciate all the "under the surface" storyline stuff. i thought the fight sequences were very good, but I didn't get the whole Peter Pan flying ability(with no pixies dust??) The relationship the female charecter ... Complete Review
