A Knight's Tale
(2001)
Synopsis
Inspired by "The Canterbury Tales," this is the story of William , a young squire with a gift for jousting. After his master dies suddenly, the squire hits the road with his cohorts Roland and Wat. On the journey, they stumble across an unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to forge genealogy documents that will pass him off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man sets out to prove himself a worthy knight at the country's jousting competition, and finds romance along the way.

The crowd remains silent and confused at this eloquence until a fellow ... Complete Review

I expected this movie to fall flat on its face...to my astonishment I enjoyed it thoroughly. Such a movie requires you to suspend your beliefs at certain moments to truly enjoy the film, if you can't do this, and all you crave is historical accuracy, then this movie is NOT for you.

I'm amazed when I read reviews of this movie - which sets a medieval story to a blatantly rock film score - and hear people use words like "history" (as in, not enough of) and "serious" (as if it was meant to be taken that way). This is not meant to be a history lesson or a serious analysis of ... Complete Review

This is a funny and well edited movie with lots of cool jousting scenes. Loved Chaucer's speeches and the Will was a babe. The contemporary soundtrack adds to the reality. The extras are also fun to watch.

If you enjoy historical fiction, then this movie might be up your jousting alley. Some major deviations, but plot and storyline are believable. Internal strength and will to succeed always perservere!

I heard this movie was not suppose to be so good, but it WAS. A good plot, my kids age 9 and 5 liked it as well as my parents in their 60's, and me my upper 30's. Great joisting action. Well worth the rental.
