Shrek
(2001)
Synopsis
Please note that this disc features the full screen version of the film, as well as some bonus features. For the widescreen version, please rent the bonus disc. Once upon a time in a far away swamp, there lived an ornery ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers) whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy-tale characters. There are blind mice in his food, a big, bad wolf in his bed, three little homeless pigs and more, all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Determined to save their home-not to mention his own-Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) to be Farquaad's bride. Accompanying him on his mission is a wisecracking Donkey (Eddie Murphy), who will do anything for Shrek ... except shut up. Rescuing the Princess from a fire-breathing dragon may prove the least of their problems when the deep, dark secret she has been keeping is revealed.

Dr. Dolittle 2
Eddie Murphy talks to the animals once again in this well-loved family comedy. This time, it's up to the good doctor to defend the habitat of a lone female bear, Ava (voiced by Lisa Kudrow), and introduce her to a suitable (if intellectually challenged) mate (voiced by Steve Zahn). Adults will enjoy the sly humor of Issac Hayes playing a possum; kids will love the world-class animatronics.

Once upon a time, there was a mean ogre who lived in an enchanted forest full of suspiciously familiar characters -- including a trio of little pigs forever on the run from a wolf, a little wooden boy who was a pathological liar and seven midgets fretting about a beautiful girl in a glass ... This has been the best movie I've seen this year. Great fun for kids, teens, and adults alike. Like Bugs Bunny cartoons, there's some humor that'll fly over little kids' heads that adults will catch, and some physical humor that kids will love but will have more "proper" adults wincing. I can't remember laughing so hard during a movie that's come out recently... I took my 6 year old daughter and we both had a BLAST! Early in the movie when the Dragon is getting attacked, my daughter got lots of funny looks from the kids around her when she said (loudly) "Awww, poor Draggie!" -- ... Complete Review
