Synopsis

Mel Gibson 'gives one of his strongest performances,'** teaming with director and co-screenwriter Brian Helgeland (co-writer of L.A. Confidential) and a superb supporting cast to ignite Payback's explosive mix of story, stars and style.

The dynamic superstar portrays Porter, a career criminal bent on revenge after his partners in a street heist pump metal into him and take off with his $70,000 cut. Bad move, thugs. Because if you plan to double-cross Porter, you'd better make sure he's dead. Porter resurfaces, wading into a lurid urban underworld of syndicate kingpins, cops on the take, sniveling informants and deadly gangs. Porter wants his money back. And the way he sets out to get it assures that, from beginning to heartpounding end, Payback pays off big.

About the DVD: The look and sound of this DVD are exceptional. Payback was filmed using an interestingly subdued, desaturated color palette, so don't use this DVD to set your color levels.

Cast: Mel Gibson, David Paymer, Gregg Henry, Maria Bello

When the government puts all its rotten criminal eggs in one airborne basket, it's asking for trouble. Before you can say, "Pass the barf bag," the crooks control the plane, led by creepy Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom (John Malkovich). Watching his every move is the just-released Nicolas Cage, who'd rather reunite with his family. The action climaxes with an incredible crash sequence in Las Vegas.

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Jericho Cane, a burned-out ex-cop with the world on his shoulders -- literally! Satan has taken over the body of a Wall Street banker (Gabriel Byrne) and has one goal in mind: mating with an innocent woman (Robin Tunney) before the end of the millennium (thus setting off Armageddon). Can Arnold save her -- and the world -- in time?

A solid remake of another solid film (1967's Point Blank) about a bad guy who wants his fair share of heist money. When he doesn't get it, bad things start to happen to everybody involved. Mel Gibson is terrific, and the film hits (sometimes literally) all the right notes.

Anybody read any James Hadley Chase books when they were young? This movie has that good bad guy theme down that after so long its actually refreshing. The movie is just super slick in its direction and Mel Gibson played this role to perfection. Its among the best action flicks I have seen in a ... Complete Review

The perfect movie for your dark side. Have you ever had thoughts about what you would like to do to get even with someone? Have you ever thought, "It's too bad I have a conscience."? Mel's character acts on these thoughts. And nobody gets hurt but the bad guys. Lots of action, good story, ... Complete Review

This goes back to the style of movie where the main character just gets even. There's no need for further motivation, plot, or theme. Just time to get some payback. Plus, I recommend the soundtrack. Three's a lot of old school hits throughout the movie.

This movie had to be one of Mel Gibson's worst flicks. It was hard to follow and I couldnt get into the movie at all.

Wow, one of Mel's good movies. But unfortunately the DVD I got was skipping every few minutes and hence could not enjoy the movie as much as I did when I saw it in the theater.
