"ATV Man" returns to work after plea bargain
A Standorf foothills park ranger accused of vehicular manslaughter returned to work yesterday after reaching a plea bargain agreement with the Standorf District Attorney's office.
The park ranger, who had run over a hiker with his all-terrain vehicle (ATV), plead guilty to reckless steering, a misdemeanor.  His lawyer argued that the fact that the hiker was not on a designated recreational route was a mitigating circumstance.
"Iím really glad to be going back to work," the ranger said at a press conference shortly after the plea bargain was arranged.
"If you go too long without being able to tell a hiker that he needs to stay on the designated recreational routes, it just doesn't feel right.
