For the week Tuesday Oct. 29 - Nov. 5, the OTC homework will be a little
different. YOu will be given a schema --- a variant of bars/beers,
and asked to write six queries in SQL. You can find the HW now at OTC,
but you have to go to "Lab Projects" rather than "Homework."
As always, you can take the homework as many times as you like,
but in addition, you can submit your work, click the back button
on your browser, and edit your work. This feature is important,
since you may find that your first attempt gives you syntax errors.
OTC will pass the Oracle error message to you --- unfortunately,
some are less than enlightening.
Here are some additional suggestions:
-
Make a copy of the schema, for reference as you work the queries.
-
Try one query, get that right, then go on to the
next.
-
Do not be intimidated by the time limit. Each time you
submit, the clock resets.
-
If you get tired of working, and want to quit for a while,
screen-scrape your correct queries and keep them in a
file to be copied onto your next opening of the lab project.
