Midterm Exam: October 28 (20% of your final grade)
The midterm exam will be held on Wednesday October 28, in
class. All enrolled students, including Bay Area SCPD students, must
attend the midterm exam on campus at the scheduled time and place.
Score distribution (out of 75 points): Median 46.5 (62%), Mean 45.29 (60.4%), Max 67.5 (90%), Min 17 (22.7%)
Final Exam: December 9 (25% of your final grade)
The final exam will be held on Wednesday December 9 from
9:30-11:30 in the Terman
Auditorium. (The officially scheduled time is 8:30-11:30, but we
will have a 2-hour exam, and we assume students prefer the later
rather than earlier 2-hour time slot.) All enrolled students,
including Bay Area SCPD students, must attend the final exam on campus
at the scheduled time and place.
Final exam logistics and review will be linked here
Routine alternate or make-up exams will not be given. If you
provide an extraordinarily compelling case then an alternate exam may
be given, but alternate exams are always oral exams given by the
instructor.
Regrades:
Please do not ask for a regrade on a particular problem until
you have studied our sample solution. If you don't understand the
sample solution, please visit office hours.
Once you understand the sample solution, if you still believe
that your solution is correct, you may either: (1) Visit any staff
member's office hours to discuss your solution to the problem and
whether a regrade may be warranted; or (2) Attach a note to your exam
explaining very clearly why your answer is correct, then turn it in
during class or to the course administrator (Marianne Siroker in Gates
435), marked very clearly for a regrade.
If, during regrading, we discover a grading error in which too
many points were awarded, the score will be lowered. In other
words, a regrade request may result in a higher score, a lower score,
or no change.
