In a smooth segue from the nihilism of The Way of the Gun, we track civilization through various stages of collapse via three darkly comic masterpieces. We begin with the ultra-stylish mayhem of Fight Club that reduces the world's economic structure to a shambles, before proceeding to the more grandiose nuclear destruction of civilization as a whole in Kubrick's satire Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Finally, we conclude on a hopeful note with Delicatessen, a hilarious depiction of a starving, post-apocalyptic world trying to choose between vegetarianism and cannibalism.
