Viewgraphs used in Presentations

These 120+ viewgraphs are individually available, in postscript (ps)and most in gif format. The postscript versions are closer to the orginals. If you do not have the capbility te read postscript (Now best provided by Ghostscript freeware) copy the file, and then look it with Adobe Acrobat. (Gif versions display faster, are about 40% of the given postscript file sizes, but postscript versions tend to print faster). Later presentations use Microsoft PowerPoint, and are sometimes available HTML or in Adobe PDF. Recently I have posted pointers to presentation slides on my work-in-progress page. There are also papers that correspond to most presentations on my web pages.
    There is this argument going on that PowerPoint is bad. I agree that when Powerpoint is used, as it often is, as surrogate for careful thinking, analysis, and writing a coherent description of someone's intentions, it is. Using PowerPoint or any visuals to present work that has been carefully planned, executed, and analyzed will help the audience understand the essence of that work. (The fact that lying is bad does not make speaking bad.)
The slides shown here, or earlier versions of them, were used for a variety of presentations, many to establish the ARPA I3 program, often to indicate directions for further work and research. Feel free to use them, but I'd appreciate an acknowledgement. Gio
